Do you do Online Marketing like me? Listen to this...

My goal is to tackle a societal problem involving the transfer of scientific information from the laboratory to the general public.

So many times the most time-sensitive, applicable, and relevant information for improving the quality of life in a small coastal community is dependent on the WAY in which it is delivered.

Often times the process of how to deal with this information is overly complicated and construed in such a way that people do not want to engage. i.e. "Planning to manage people is very different than managing a plan for people."

I want to volunteer out in the ocean with scientists and capture valuable information before it reaches the desk of the researchers, scientists and formulate simple action steps for the towns who need it most...so they can help themselves and not have to wait for political realities to reach the level of consensus required to make positive projects happen now.

Aside from my "why" I am big-time into Internet marketing through the lens of my background in the social sciences and management.

I have been building a network marketing business 100% on the Internet and I just enjoy meeting new people online and eventually speaking to them on the phone.

I live in Oregon. My formal training is in marine resource management and Japanese carpentry construction tools and techniques. I have been a consultant to fisheries organizations and owned a high-end construction company for 5 years at one point.

One fateful day while in the midst of graduate school my best friend called me up from Hawaii with breaking news about a fantastic chance to work together and I jumped at the joint venture.  You see, I’m no stranger to network marketing with 5+ years devoted to building a residual income.

The first thing I noticed was how elated my best friend was to work with me, finally after so many years doing our own things.  When I am interested in something new I become passionate about it and invest much of my time and effort.  This probably has a lot to do with the fact that both of my parents worked on call when I was a child and I had the chance to dabble in many subjects and gain an understanding for how life is not placid, rigid, or negative – no rat race for me.  I was a decathlete in college in track and field because I was not exceptional at any one event, but instead, I was better than average at all and combined I performed better doing many events.

Now, looking back I remember how I was too busy writing my thesis in graduate school to build a strong business together and I would rather have invested quietly in the background while he did all the work.

I am a firm believer that the best way to manage change is to create it, and this is true in relationships and business.  I had only experienced lukewarm success in network marketing prior to this endeavor as I found it very difficult to attract new people to me without having to spend all day passing out sizzle cards, flyers, and conducting home parties. I just knew I needed to do something different this time and bring about that change.

To my delight and surprise our business really took off and our checks skyrocketed. Why? We used social media marketing on the Internet versus old-school methods of talking to our close friends and family.

A tremendous “buzz” online was created about the marketing formula I used to build our business very part-time within 3 months. Our network of over 1,300 direct people and many thousands online was thriving and many folks were busily making money and reporting that our approach helped them too.

But what soon happened was most of the people we signed up were dropping off and our checks were dwindling fast. Hmmm

We think our business growth out-paced the demand for our product and I prided myself on emphasizing what ‘not to do’ so people didn’t make the same mistakes I had made in the past.

First off, I must convey to you that I do not care about productivity unless charisma, strong morals, and a strong work ethic are involved. Unfortunately, our downline was disintegrating before our eyes so we had an “ahh haa” moment!!!  We realized the company we had joined was not true to their word.

This is so lame; but I forgot to teach new people “how to use my marketing formula” and instead, we just told them what ‘not to do’ by choosing to talk to unqualified people first thing.  All-the-while we should have been developing leaders and teaching them “how to use my marketing formula” with their teams. Oops!

After years of self-help books, audio books, tapes, conferences, and seminars so many people still struggle in the network marketing or MLM industry.  I’m tired of seeing that happen to good friends and talented people.

What are your thoughts? Why do creative people fail in network marketing? I know self-made millionaires who cannot recruit one person if their life depended on it…why is this?

This is where I believe I have a unique ability to translate difficult topics into super simple action steps to help you build your business using Social Media.

I look forward to speaking with you soon.
